The year 1960 constitutes the beginning of the third episode of the life of the 356, it is deeply retouched on the visual plan. The 356 B offers a better visibility and a greater luminosity with a larger glass surface. At the front, the headlights are mounted higher and the fenders become more prominent, like the 911. New turn signals are installed, in the shape of an ogive they characterize the 356 B. Under the bumper there are two new air inlets to cool the brakes. The exterior mirror is no longer fixed to the front wing but to the door. Finally, the chrome trim on the hood is wider in its lower part. The soundproofing is reinforced in the cabin, which gains new seats that are more enveloping and comfortable. The rear seat has a folding backrest, in two parts. It should be noted that out of the total production of the B Coupé, only 1747 hard top Coupés were produced.
FrankreichThe 356 convertible undergoes the same aesthetic and technical modifications as the coupe. At the same time the brakes are now in alloy, but still with drums. At the same time, the brakes are now made of alloy, but still with drums. The top speed reaches 155 km/h and the equipment and the finish are more than ever at the heart of the customers’ concerns.
The Cabriolet is also available in a Super version with two engines: the Super 75 (75 hp) and the Super 90 (90 hp). The displacement remains the same, 1,582 cm3, but the maximum speed increases to 175 km/h for the 75 and 180 km/h for the 90 against the 160 km/h of the standard version.
