This car is a fully restored 1966 Porsche 911 SWB, which was sold new by P.C. Import, Northbrook to Mr. Howard Shoemaker of Omaha Nebraska. Mr. Shoemaker took possession of the car in November 1966.
Back in time, Howard Shoemaker was a famous cartoonist, working for Playboy and for Porsche. His Porsche cartoons were very much appreciated in Stuttgart. The booklet with Shoemaker cartoons issued by Porsche in 1964 for its clients is nowadays a rare and requested item (an original is sold with the car). Cartoons of Howard Shoemaker were also published in various issues of Christophorus Magazine.
Howard Shoemaker drove the car for a total of 55’000 miles, then put it away in used condition in his garage in the early 80ies. In 2014, after 48 years possession, he decided to part away with the car. It was sold to a new owner in the United Kingdom, who carried out a complete restoration.
After an additional owner in the UK, I purchased the car at an auction and imported it to Switzerland. Porsche Zentrum Zurich carried out all necessary works in order to pass the Swiss MoT as „Antique car“. The car is currently registered in Switzerland.
The history is perfectly documented. I have a copy of the Kardex with the name of Howard Shoemaker as first owner, the original Nebraska Title issued in December 2013 in the name of Howard Shoemaker, with his signature as seller.
The car is matching numbers, and still shows all original options:
In the restoration some details were not carried out in respect of the originality. Back seats with pepita, red painted brake calipers, and undersite painted in red, with not undercoating.
Overall, the car is in magnificient condition. It was meant to be a keeper, but the acquisition of a 1973 RS 2.7 changed all plans…
The car is located in Lugano, Switzerland and can be seen and driven if serious interest.
