The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 is a G-series with a special place in the history of the entire Porsche 911 range. Indeed, it combines the genes of two legends of the brand: on the one hand the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, introduced at the end of 1972 and on the other hand the aluminum engine block of 2993 cm3 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0, also known as Porsche 930! Produced on the only years 1976 and 1977 to less than 3,700 copies, it is a relatively rare 911 … and only distributed in Europe!

The engine of the Carrera 3.0 is essentially the engine of the 911 Turbo without turbo. In addition, the lighter 6-bolt flywheel and crankshaft from the 2.7 RS were installed. To compensate for the absence of the 930’s turbo, Porsche increased the compression ratio, optimized Bosch’s K-Jetronic fuel injection to get a three-liter engine claiming 200 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. On the road, the 911 Carrera 3.0’s performance is very similar to that of the 2.7 RS. Although it is generally referred to as the civilized version of the legendary 2.7 RS with 210 hp, it has better lap times: from 0 to 100 km/h, the Carrera 3.0 is a tenth of a second faster than the latter and even two tenths better on the 0 to 180 km/h!
