1983 Porsche 911 SC for sale!

Chassis no. WP0ZZZ91ZDS121576 / Engine N0. 64D3011  / Transmission No. 74D3111

For the model year 1978, Porsche narrowed the 911 model lineup to just two models- the 911 SC and the Turbo. The 911 SC replaced the 911 S and Carrera models, and the new moniker was an amalgamation of the “Super” designation of the 911S and “Carrera” of the 3.0 Carrera. The 911 SC was built with the 3.0 Carrera body with widened fenders to accommodate 205/55 or 225/50 tires on the 15″ Fuchs wheels. The chrome door handles and window trims of the previous 911 models were replaced by black anodized trim as was utilized in the Carrera models, and both the chrome headlight surrounds and side-view mirrors were matched to the body color.

Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Porsche constructed six different versions of the 911 SC’s 3.0-liter flat-six to comply with the different emissions regulations in each country they were to be exported to, but nevertheless, each was capable of producing a minimum of 180 horsepower. Through these changes the 911 SC offered improved handling, power, and a balance of modern and vintage aesthetics, while still staying true to the 911s pure driving experience.

The original window sticker for this 1983 911 SC lists many of the common options for the period: a Blaupunkt Monterey Radio, Fuchs wheels, climate control, theft alarm, limited slip differential, Platinum Metallic paint, and the rare black headliner. Though, there is one option listed that stands out as a bit of a head-scratcher. Option Group R95 is listed on both the bill of sale and the window sticker for an additional cost of $2,595- nearly 10% of the 911 SC’s base price. One can only conclude that the factory addition to the front and rear spoilers are the source of the additional premium and the mysterious option code. While the 1980 M439 Weissach-edition 911 SC models and the M491 “Turbo-look” option for the later generation 3.2 Carreras are well known, this example with “option group R95” has been the only one listed on the factory sticker that we have ever come across.

Now a four-owner example and once a part of Jerry Seinfeld’s Porsche collection, this example has returned to our inventory and remains in largely original and excellent overall condition inside and out.
