1977 was the last year of the original 3.0L series 930s. Considered one of the most raw and analog driving experiences available, the 3.0L 930 was the first 911 to wear the iconic „Turbo“ badge. It was the result of Porsche pulling from their racing technology and putting a turbo in the 911. The original Turbo 911 is easily differentiated from the rest of the 911 range thanks to its widened track with flared arches front and rear. It also received the iconic whale tail spoiler, that helped create much needed traction.
For the 1977 Model year, the 930 received several improvements. Most notably the K-Jetronic fuel system refined, reinforced gearbox, thicker brakes, and upgraded transmission to match the larger 16” wheel size. Overall the more popular driving experience one can have in a 3.0L 930. The 3.0L 930 Turbo Carrera was made for a 2-3 year production stint, making it much rarer than it’s 3.3L successor with a production run of 10 years.
