Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Available during a three-year production run, this car is one of about 1,900 cars equipped as a lightweight Club Sport. Weighing approximately 200 pounds less than a standard 968, the Club Sport utilized Recaro Pole Position bucket seats and eliminated the rear seats and some sound deadening. Further weight-saving measures to this particular car include deletion of the radio, while amenities currently include air conditioning and electric windows.

The exterior has been refinished in its original shade of non-metallic Black under prior ownership and features 17-inch Cup 1 cast wheels and stiffer Club Sport suspension with a 20-mm lower ride height over the standard 968.

According to official Porsche documentation, this car was delivered new through Porsche Japan (country code C08), finished in Black, and is believed to have spent time in both Japan and later France before it was imported to the United States in 2019. Offered with 58,200 kilometers at the time of cataloging, this 968 is accompanied by Carfax report, an owner’s manual, and two vehicle keys along with service and importation documents from previous ownership. Recently celebrating its 30-year anniversary, this 968 Club Sport, never sold to the American market, is now eligible for US-based enthusiasts to drive and enjoy, just as Porsche intended.

The zenith of Porsche’s long-running front-engined, four-cylinder 924 and 944 series was the 968 in 1992. What started as an evolution of the 3.0-liter 944 S2, ended up being a car that Porsche boasted was 80% new, with production now taking place in Porsche’s own Zuffenhausen factory as opposed to Audi’s Neckarsulm plant, which had been utilized for the 924 and 944. Sharing the front-engine/rear transaxle layout of its predecessor, the Porsche 968 was wrapped in new bodywork that was the product of original 924 designer Harm Lagaay. With this updated styling, the 968 drew from the 928 at the front while offering more integrated rear end styling. While the standard model was available as either a coupe or convertible, those looking to maximize the performance of their 968 coupe could select the high-performance Club Sport option.
