Porsche 911 993 Carrera Cabriolet in Ocean Blue Metallic for sale!
Early in 1990, Tony Hatter led the design of the 993 under Harm Lagaaj to modernize the 911’s shape as both engineers and stylists within the company felt that the 964 had looked too much like the earliest 911s and a change was overdue. At this time, the 959 had already reached iconic status and the 989 four-door concept had been in the works, so he and his team were able to draw inspiration from those to incorporate into the design language of the 993. The resulting 993 bodies were sleek and curvaceous, with wide hips and wider, flatter front fenders and swept-back headlights. 1998 marked the final year of the 993 and the last of the air-cooled engines, but the 993 chassis had already made its place as a modern classic and is still revered over 20 years later as one of the best 911 designs ever produced. Since Ferdinand Porsche was a fan of open-top cars from the earliest days of the marque, it’s no surprise that a cabriolet model was available in the model lineup.
