The 1978 911 Carrera SC Coupe (Backdated 1973 Carrera RS Tribute)

Completed in 2018 is this spectacular 1978 911 Carrera SC Coupe that has been backdated to pay tribute to the iconic 1973 Carrera RS. This was an 18-month project that was done locally and paid close attention to every little detail during the build. The client that this was built for had a dream in mind and it was fulfilled very tastefully for any enthusiast to enjoy years to come. This is not a car you quickly glance over; you want to spend the time looking at every inch and immediately you know that getting it right was always the objective. From the yellow livery outside to the plaid bucket seats to the cibie headlights, it all comes together so beautifully. Building a car like this in today’s environment would easily cost more than what it is being offered at, not to mention the wait time involved being at least 2+ years which is the same as if you were to order a new 911. Contact our sales team to talk more in-depth about this unique opportunity.

The vehicle in detail

This 911 is powered by a 3.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine has been fitted with PMO 46 carburetors, a distributor advance curve kit, maple leaf 9.5:1 pistons and cylinders, a 964-style cam upgrade, Carrera tensioners, an MSD ignition, and coil systems, SSI heat exchangers, and a new fuel tank. The car is also equipped with a Patrick Motorsport RSR-style exhaust muffler. Continuing with what makes this car that much more special is the set of ‘Outlaw’ alloy wheels by Magnus Walker and Fifteen52, wrapped in Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires which look good at any show and shine. The car benefitted from new brake calipers, rotors, and pads. The underside has been sandblasted and powder-coated suspension, with all-new seals, bushings, and hardware, as well as OEM front torsion bars and 26mm Turbo-specification rear items.

You can tell this is an outlaw because of its unique features like the following: 1969-73 era front clip, a 1973-era long hood, Getty fiberglass bumpers, RS-style flared wheel arches, a ducktail spoiler, restored light housings with new H4 headlamps, Cibie spot lamps, an OEM rear lid grille, and polished trim pieces all-round. The car has also benefitted from a full body paint protection film to protect it from the elements.

Looking into the car you immediately look upon the custom seats from Italy Coco, finished with a two-tone black and yellow checked pattern, with matching colour-coded carpets, a Wevo classic shifter with a 917 shift knob, two vintage Camero stopwatches, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a restored 1973-era dashboard with backdated gauges.
