The Carrera 2.7 with 154KW (209 HP) was equipped with the engine from the RS and was produced in similar numbers (1,534 Coupé & 610 Targa). As with its predecessor, the body of the new Carrera was widened by a total of 42 mm to accommodate the larger tires on the rear fenders. Where the registration regulations permitted it, it was also equipped with a front spoiler lip and a distinctive rear spoiler attached to the hood. At 1,075 kg, the new Carrera had the same weight as the 911 RS touring and therefore offered identical performance.
