History:
The Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera was launched in 1984 as the successor to the 911 SC, marking a return to the “Carrera” name and offering a more powerful, reliable, and fuel-efficient 231 hp engine. The most significant change came in 1987 with the introduction of the Getrag G50 transmission, replacing the aging 915 and providing much better synchronization, making gear changes faster and more precise. These models from 1987 to 1989 are considered the pinnacle of the “classic” non-turbocharged 911, combining the timeless aesthetics of narrow bumpers with modern mechanical reliability. The 3.2 G50 is widely acclaimed as the “sweet spot” before the arrival of the heavier and more complex 964.
