Porsche 911 2.7S

House of Car Haarlem and Porsche Specialist Haarlem offer: 1976er 911 2.7S

The G-Model has become an iconic shape. It was the basis for revolutionary models like the 930, the first Turbo. The naturally breathable, air-cooled 2.7 liter six-cylinder boxer in this “S” is good for 165 hp. That is perhaps less than you find in a little hot hatchback nowadays, but that is not the case with this type of car. The experience, that’s what it’s about. And that starts with the ultimate Minerva lacquer metallic paint, big boy if you dare to order it on a 991. But in 1976 this was a great combination, the optional original Fuchs rims were also popular at the time.

The black interior of this Porsche 911 has been completely renewed from the revised counters to the new floor mats and the beautiful new leather. In 1976 the car was put together in a very pleasant combination. Among others, a leather steering wheel, electric windows and a sliding roof were checked on the option list. The car also has a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with electric antenna. This 911S is largely in the original paint.

Time to put that tasty six cylinder to work. Which is completely overhauled 2- to 2,000 km ago. The key is involved, the starter motor goes around a few times as it is so typical for Porsches of this age. As if it is almost impossible to swing the block and then follows that coughing roll of the boxer. First a little restless to slowly start to slow down, so you know you can drive.

And driving, these cars do so well. Not perfect, certainly not. But there is something about driving a 1970s Porsche 911 that is hard to put into words. The feeling that you are on the road with a kind of primal car, that does nothing more than you ask it except just driving. And put a smile on your face. In the beginning very careful, but also the five box in this 911 never misses a stroke and so you forget that at a given moment. It remains special that you can give a car of almost 40 years old on its thunder, without that car a shrinkage.

Also steering in a 911 of this age remains a pleasure. The current sports steering wheel, which by today’s standards is very precise and conveys exactly what happens under the front wheels. The same handlebar that passes all your input flawlessly to the front wheels, so you can aim the 911 very precisely a turn. Whether it is due to the Bilstein chassis mounted afterwards, all the rubber bushings replaced by Poly buses or the Turbo wheelhouse, it gives an incredible amount of satisfaction. Just because driving with this kind of cars is so pure and basic driving.
