This 1972 911 T was purportedly bought new by a mid-west doctor, strikingly specified in black with a beige interior with leather sport seats. Further optioned with 15” Fuchs wheels, “S appearance package,” front and rear sway bars as well as tinted glass all around, the 911 T was ideally finished.

The vehicle in detail

The Porsche was bought in December 1981 by PCA member Barry Pipkin of Joplin Missouri with approximately 28,000 miles. Maintenance and registration records from Pipkin’s ownership further document 28,163 miles on 5/31/83 and 30,543 miles on 5/29/85. After several years of enjoyment, the car was put into careful storage in 1991 and remained there until 2008, then passing to Pipkin’s good friend Ken Steven Roberts. Photos from the car’s reappearance show a dusty but exceptionally well preserved 911.

With several other projects in process, Roberts chose not to do anything but clean up the 911, and in 2013 the car was acquired by Bruce Canepa. With just 34,000 miles, the car was treated to nearly $50,000 in significant, though sympathetic recommissioning. Receipts and records on hand highlight the work completed, including repainting of the hood and front and rear bumpers, significant maintenance of the fuel, braking and electrical systems, new consumables as needed, a full tune-up, detail and service of the undercarriage, new tires, an alignment, and a comprehensive detail.

Bought by the current owner in 2013 from Bruce Canepa, the 911 joined a Pacific Northwest collection of postwar sports of exceptional originality and low mileage.  Driven minimally, though regularly, since acquisition the car has received a high level of care, both cosmetically and mechanically. This work included a complete tear down and reseal of the original engine in 2022. Additionally, the proper, date coded Fuchs wheels were recently restored by Harvey Weidman and fitted with new, correct tires.

Today the 911 shows just over 35,000 miles and is in exceptional order. This is undoubtedly one of the finest original Porsches we’ve had the pleasure to represent. The originality and overall condition are exceptional and the car drives as one would expect from such a low mileage and well sorted example.

The car is complete with its original toolkit and jack, owner’s manual set, spare keys, original touch up paint and a significant file of maintenance records. This is truly is a benchmark 911 and one that would impress even the most well-heeled enthusiasts.
