1977 PORSCHE 930 TURBO 3.0 in Platinum Metallic for sale!

“Collection by vermant” is delighted to be able to offer you this magnificent and very rare Porsche 930 3.0 Turbo. The 930 3.0 turbo was the first iteration of the 930 series and was also the most rare version with a total build number of around 2800, opposed to the 18.000 examples being build of the 3.3L 930. The 3.0L engine, despite being smaller than its successor, was the fastest version with a 0-100km/h time of 5.2 seconds. This was not only unheard of back in 1975, when they were released, but is still a very fast number today. The sheer acceleration and power of the Turbo, when it kicks in, make this a very tricky car to drive. Due to the many accidents with unexperienced drivers, the Turbo quickly received the name: The Widowmaker. Because of the use of turbocharging, the 3L engine was able to push out an astonishing 260 hp. This was 60HP more than the non Turbo 911 available at that time. The higher horsepower and the lack of driver aids really make this car into a pure sportscar, suitable for almost every condition. Whether you are driving the car on a daily base, going on a trip to the Italian coast or drive over some mountain passes in the winter.

The vehicle in detail

This 930 is a rare Belgian delivered car by the renowned Porsche Importer D’Ieteren. It was delivered new to its first owner, a doctor, in Brussels on the 15th of July 1977. This gentleman kept the car for 8 years and subsequently sold it to a private collector in Pennsylvania in 1985. The car was kept in his private collection till 2010, when the car returned to its country of first delivery to a new Belgian owner. Coincidentally, this owner was also from Brussels. After 5 years of ownership, the Turbo was sold for a third and final time to another Belgian collector from which we have acquired the car. Throughout its 45 years of existence, this 930 has had only 4 owners, which have all been documented. The registration documents starting from its trip to the US and subsequently the 2 Belgian owners are still present with the car to add to the history of the car. When the last owner acquired the car, it was in need of some mechanical refresh. During his seven years of ownership, a total of 30.000€ was spent to bring the car back into a mechanically top condition. Under his ownership, an engine rebuild was also recently performed.

When looking at the exterior of this 930, we can find the beautiful colour of Platinum. This is a gold/ beige metallic colour that suits the 930 very well. This gives a great contrast with the black stone chipping guards on the side of the car and the black rubber trim parts on the front spoiler and rear wing. When continuing on the outside, we can see that this Turbo is still fitted with all the correct details, with which it left the factory. This includes the fixing of only one rear mirror, that is mounted on the driver’s side and the anodized trim around the windows of the car. On the back of this Turbo, we can find the rare and 3.0 specific rear spoiler. These were replaced by the whale tail on its successor and are a distinct feature for the 3.0L models.

Going over to the interior of this car, we can find a very unique and stylish dark green leather interior. This works extremely well with the Platinum Metallic exterior colour and gives this car a very nice touch. The interior has a very nice patina throughout and the leather is still very supple and free of any scratches or rips. The carpet of this 930 is very thick and also finished in dark green to complement the rest of the interior. Currently, a more recent model of radio has been fitted, but an period correct unit is still present and will be delivered with the car. To aid in the usability of this Turbo, the first owner specified the car with a sunroof. This is a very nice option to use on summer drives or even sunny winter drives. This is a fully automated system and is in perfect working order.

This 930 will be delivered with the following rare and sought after items:

  • Original service book and manual
  • Original technical specifications folder
  • Service invoices starting from 2015
  • Registration documents starting in the US
  • Porsche Birth certificate
  • Original Tyre compressor
  • Original Spare Wheel

This 930 3.0 Turbo provides a unique opportunity to acquire a great drivers car of a very unique and extremely rare model. Presented with all the right history and offered in a very honest and unmolested condition, this 930 will give its new owner a smile for every mile that has been covered.
