Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 Gr. 4 – 1981

According to its chassis number, this 911 Turbo 3.3 type 930 was probably the 61st of the 938 cars produced for Europe in 1982. According to its Histovec report, this car was registered in France on 30 August 1981 before being modified to obtain its Historic Technical Passport for historic racing. – At the request of professional driver Philippe Gache, the car was built between 2009 and 2010 by SMG Racing to take part in the 2010 Tour de Corse Historique. Philippe Gache set 8 fastest times on the 18 special stages, largely dominating the race. At the end of the rally, the car was sold to a driver from Lyon who would only drive it once. He then sold it to a friend, a driver from the west of France, who drove it on several rallies in 2013. Finally, in 2015, the car was sold to a driver from Grenoble, before three-time Tour Auto winner Jean-Pierre Lajournade bought it in September 2017.

The vehicle in detail

Between December 2017 and November 2020, the car will be completely overhauled. The body will be sent to Matter Competition to receive a 6-point welded roll bar and Gr. 4 body reinforcements. At the same time, major bodywork work will be carried out, including realignment of the wings, refurbishment of the floorboards, a 110-litre fuel tank, a factory-size oil tank at the front, a radiator upgrade, and so on.

All the settings will also be corrected with the help of his team, which has been working with him for over 30 years, and the support of Crubilé Sport (78). Mechanically, the engine delivers 454 bhp at 5,500 rpm, the gearbox is fitted with retro Sport type 935 gears and the turbo is a KKK K27. More than 590 hours of work were invested in this car before it obtained its new FIA PTH on 25 November 2020 (valid for 10 years)!

Entered by Peter Auto and in HVM, it set 4th fastest time behind two Porsche 935s and a Porsche 930 Turbo in the Porsche Classic Race at Le Mans Classic 2022 before an engine failure cut short its race. Since then, its top engine has been rebuilt by the teams at Crubilé Sport (78) and it pocketed the Classic Endurance Racing GT title in 2023 and two French Historic Championship titles in 2023 and 2024 in the hands of Emmanuel Brigand!
