1989 Porsche 930 Turbo S for sale!

This 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo is #7 of 10 examples ordered with the Special Turbo Powerkit by France-based Porsche distributor Sonauto through the automaker’s Exclusive program. It was reportedly purchased new by a former Toyota Motor Corporation executive and was subsequently sent to RUF Automobile of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, to be modified with an upgraded fuel-injection system, a 4R exhaust system, an in-cockpit boost controller, and RUF gauges. The car was exported to Japan in 1990 and later relocated to Germany in 2016, where it was acquired by the selling dealer in October 2022. Finished in paint-to-sample Two-Layer Black over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a turbocharged 3.3-liter 930/66S flat-six mated to a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Optional factory equipment includes a front-mount oil cooler, a unique front spoiler with integrated fog lights, the Sport Suspension package, staggered-width Fuchs alloy wheels, sport seats with multi-tone inserts, and a Type B center console with integrated VDO auxiliary gauges. This 930 Turbo shows 68k kilometers (~42k miles) and is offered by the selling dealer in San Diego, California, with factory books, tools, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, removed parts, German-language records, import documents, and a clean Montana title.

The vehicle in detail

The car was delivered from the factory in paint-to-sample Two-Layer Black (00) and features an optional front spoiler with an oil cooler and integrated foglights as well as a rear valance with cutouts for the quad-exit exhaust system. Additional exterior details include headlight washers, side marker lamps, dual side-view mirrors, an electric sliding sunroof, black rock guards ahead of the rear wheels, a tea-tray rear spoiler, and a rear model designation delete. Black 16″ Fuchs light alloy wheels feature anodized lips and are mounted with 2021 date-coded Pirelli Cinturato P7s measuring 205/55 up front and 245/45 out back. The car came equipped from the factory with the Sport Suspension Package, which widened the rear track by 35mm and lowered the ride height by 33mm up front and 27mm out back. It is also fitted with Bilstein rear shocks. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with black Porsche-branded calipers over vented and cross-drilled rotors.

The cockpit features power-adjustable front sport seats trimmed in black leather with multi-tone gray inserts. Black upholstery extends to the rear seating surfaces, door panels, headliner, and carpets. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, a Becker Europa cassette stereo, and a factory short-shifter with a leather knob. A RUF adjustable boost controller was installed in 1989. The leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel fronts a central RUF-branded 8k-rpm tachometer and boost gauge as well as a VDO 300-km-h speedometer and combination gauges. VDO gauges for voltage and oil temperature are fitted in the Type B center console. The six-digit odometer shows 68k kilometers (~42k miles). A removed clock and VDO tachometer with an inset boost gauge are included in the sale along with a leather-wrapped RUF steering wheel. A plaque on the center console lists the car as #7 of 10 1989 Turbo S models produced.

The turbocharged 3.3-liter Type 930/66S flat-six was equipped from the factory with the 330-horsepower Special Turbo Powerkit, which added a larger intercooler, turbocharger, and wastegate as well as an updated fuel-injection system and revised engine and camshaft timing. The RUF-modified fuel-injection system was reportedly installed in 1989 and features an additional injector in the intake manifold for added fuel enrichment at full throttle. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a G50/50 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A RUF 4R exhaust system has been installed.
