First registered in April 1991, this 944 has been with its current keeper for nearly four years. The odometer currently indicates 143,700 miles from new.

To the best of the vendor’s knowledge, the bodywork of this 944 Cabriolet has never sustained any damage, and all the body panels are in good order. The condition of the Tahoe Blue paintwork remains generally good, though some bubbling can be seen on the driver’s door, as well as a number of age-related blemishes on the front end, wing mirrors and door edges. The pop-up headlights appear with some slight clouding, but are in good working order.

The soft-top roof has some discolouration, a noticeable tear in the outer fabric, and some oxidisation to the screws holding it in place, with the vendor noting it now only operates manually. It rides on a set of 17-inch five-arm Boxster alloy wheels, which present with similar mileage-commensurate marks and some blemishes to their silver finish, though they are in good condition on the whole.

Moving inside, the condition of the cream leather trim has been described as good, presenting with just some light creasing to the bolsters and seat bottoms. The carpets present with some light discolouration in places, namely on the door bins, though the leather-clad door cards are in good order. A Club Sport steering wheel has been installed (though the original also accompanies the car), along with an aftermarket JVC stereo, and the vendor notes that the aerial only works intermittently. Otherwise, the electrics are reported to be in good working order, and there are no warning lights present on the dashboard.

The last service was undertaken in April 2020 at 143,400 miles, where the vendor changed the engine oil, filters, brake fluid, brake discs and pads. Prior to this, around two-and-a-half years ago, a full service was undertaken alongside the fitment of replacement oil seals, belts, tensioners and rollers. The vendor indicates the clutch was last replaced in September 2017, while the brake callipers were refurbished in 2019.

The most recent MOT test was on 22 October 2020 at 143,702 miles, which resulted in a clean pass with no advisories or defects. The tyres are reported to have been fitted around one year ago, and have plenty of tread remaining.

Accompanying the vehicle are the original owner’s handbooks in their leather wallet, with the exception of the stamped service book, which has been misplaced in the past. Also included is a number of service invoices dating back to 2000.

This Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is a sound example of the ‘90s sports car, boasting a very rare factory colour combination, and which would now benefit from some minor cosmetic refurbishment. Ideal as a fun weekend cruiser or an easy improvement project for 2021, this 944 S2 would make a worthy addition to any garage.
