The vehicle in detail

vehicle description

The Porsche Carrera Cup made its debut as a one-make cup in Germany in 1990. For this racing series, the Porsche racing department built 50 vehicles for the first year. This racing series quickly developed into a huge success for the manufacturer Porsche, young talented racing drivers and motorsport fans. The program has been expanded since 2003 and there are now six other Porsche Carrera Cups around the world in addition to the Porsche Carrera Cup, Germany.

This original Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup was won by Jürgen v. Gartzen used successfully. Numerous documents and a DVD are available about the participation of the vehicle, which shows the vehicle in racing on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on June 16, 1990. The winner of this prestigious race was Jürgen v. Gartzen in this Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup, in front of Olaf Manthey and Rüdiger Schmitt.

Georg Rumpler and his team showed that the Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup is also suitable for long-distance races. Here, too, there are numerous documents and the list of results that prove the impressive history of the vehicle. There is also the purchase contract for the Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup from March 1992, when Georg Rumpler acquired the vehicle.
After the very successful use of this extraordinary racing car, the vehicle ended up in the collection of a Porsche enthusiast in Germany, where it was only driven very sporadically.
The racing car was finally sold in 2013 and has been in the same ownership since then. During this time, all maintenance and service work was carried out so that the vehicle could be used on the racetrack again immediately. Furthermore, the Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup was wrapped in the original wrapping, as the racing car was shown in the Porsche Carrera Cup debut season 1990. Since the vehicle has a German road approval, it was no longer used on circuits, but only moved gently when driving on public roads.

Being able to acquire a Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup from the debut season 1990 is extremely rare due to the small number of 50 vehicles. At the same time, however, being able to buy a winning vehicle that took 1st place on the world's most famous racetrack is a unique opportunity. This racing car is about German motorsport history, which is completely verifiable.
The vehicle is in very good condition and can be used immediately. Speculations show that a Porsche Cup will soon be launched again, which will make it possible to use this Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup in an event 30 years later. This will most certainly continue to drive the performance of this race car.

In the Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup, everything that causes useless weight was first removed. The rear emergency seats and the passenger seat were removed and all insulation material was dispensed with. In order to increase the vehicle's stability and safety, a roll cage and a strut bar were installed at the front. The 3.6 liter 6-cylinder engine with double ignition, known from the Porsche 964 Carrera, produced 265 hp in the cup version due to modified ignition electronics and a modified exhaust. Furthermore, the racing car got a new chassis with shorter and harder springs, as well as adjustable anti-roll bars. The negative camber has been increased to allow higher cornering speeds.
Despite this equipment trimmed for racing, the vehicle has a German road approval and can easily be used on public roads.
