The vehicle in detail

EXTERIOR

Body And Paint

The Polar Silver paint is consistent with great shine and believed to be all original with the exception of the passenger side front fender that reads slightly higher on the paint meter. There are small blemishes such as stone peppering on the nose area and a few other small blemishes throughout the paint. All of the easily visible VIN stickers are present. The body is straight down the sides and the panel fitment is excellent as expected. Overall, this car presents a bit better than one would expect from the mileage indicated and has certainly been taken care of.

Glass And Trim

The glass appears to be all original as is the trim which is supple and largely blemish-free. There are some signs of stone pepper on the windshield commensurate with the mileage and to be expected. All of the window etchings read proper “Sekurit” glass with the windshield reading “Sigla.”

Wheels

The iconic three-section, cup-style Speedline wheels are in good driver quality condition consistent with the mileage indicated. They have their original finish and “Speedline for Porsche” etchings along with wheel lock lug caps with the exception of one missing lug cover. The delicate finish has aged and each wheel has blemishes that can be seen in the photos. Overall, acceptable per the mileage. All of the tires are Continental Extreme Tires dated 2018 and have plentiful tread.

Notable Flaws

Stone peppering can be found on the front bumper and hood as is typical with 911s. The top right-hand corner of the rear bumper has a small blemish about an inch in size. There are a handful of other minor paint scratches that have been touched up and are noted in the photo set.

INTERIOR

Seats And Surfaces

The original grey interior is in excellent condition per the mileage. The seats are supple and blemish-free save for a bit of wear on the driver’s side bolster. Seats function as they should. The door panels are in excellent condition as is the dash, exhibiting no cracks or fading. The headliner and sun visors are original and present as new. The gauges function properly and are relatively clear with only minor haze. The original radio is in place but does not function. The carpets are original and free from rips. The floor mats both front and rear are excellent, benefiting from aftermarket Turbo mats over top of the originals to protect the original mat surfaces. There are a couple of small stains on the carpeting of the rear seat sections- See Photos. The rear seat belts have slightly frayed on both sides due to the way the seats fold in relation to the retracting mechanism of the belts which must have pinched the belts in the same spot at some point. The glove box now closes and stays closed but as is common with 964 glove box doors, it will need further adjusting. The pedals have been modified to Sparco units.

Functionality And Accessories

Everything works as it should including gauges, lights, heat, A/C, windows, sunroof, and wipers. As noted above, the radio does not work and the glove box door closes but will need further adjustment.

ENGINE BAY AND TRUNK

Engine Bay

The engine bay is extremely tidy and presents in entirely original condition with factory applied stickers, coatings, and finishes throughout. With the exception of a few small paint chips on the intercooler and a firewall heat pad that is sagging ever so slightly, the engine bay presents brilliantly. The car does have aftermarket Borla Exhaust which does give it an excellent exhaust note.

Trunk Area

The trunk area is tidy both above and below the carpeting. A previous owner wired a trickle charging system on the car. All of the factory bolts are coated properly with factory markings, and stickers. The factory options code is under the hood as well as the paint code sticker on the drivers fender.

Underside

The underside is incredibly clean as we commissioned a full dry-ice blast cleaning of the underside to look almost as clean as it did on day-one. There are a few scratches towards the front valance.

MECHANICALS

Engine

The car quickly fires to life and settles to a smooth idle on cold start with no strange noises or issues. A compression test performed in May 2021 reads solid, consistent compression readings from 140-147 across all cylinders. The engine revs freely, makes great boost, and sounds excellent due to the Borla Exhaust System. We commissioned a full service at nearly $4,500 to give the car a clean bill of health.

Transmission

The transmission is extremely smooth, precise, and responsive. The clutch feels great as well.

Brakes And Suspension

The Brakes function as they should with no pulling or vibrations noted. Every so often there is a slight clunk noticed coming from the left front upon going over certain bumps. Otherwise, suspension and handling are excellent.

Tires

The tires are Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 on all four corners. The fronts 225/40 ZR18 and the rears are 265/35 ZR18. The DOT codes read June of 2018 for the front tires and August of 2018 for the rears. All 4 tires are in excellent condition with ample tread and solid side walls.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The 3.6 Turbo is an incredible machine to drive and certainly worthy of its holy grail status as one of the best Porsche Turbos ever produced. The low-end torque curve, which the 3.6 Turbo was famously known for, helps make boost delivery more predictable and fun. Once the boost kicks in, and three gear shifts are completed, you are happily pushed back into the driver’s seat thoroughly enjoying the 355 hp these cars produce. It handles the corners magnificently, is tame around town, and is an absolute brute upon accelerating onto the highway.
