Model history
The Porsche 911 GT3, produced since 1999, is a highlight of the 911 series. With its water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, it started with 3.6 liters of displacement and 360 hp. Its model history includes several generations with performance increases, most recently up to 525 hp in the current 992 GT3 RS. The GT3 is based on the 911 Carrera RS and is known for its motorsport successes. On May 28, 2011, the Porsche 997 GT3 R Hybrid won its first race on the Nordschleife as part of the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring, using a further developed version of the 2010 model.
