Porsche managed to retain the classic 911 design very well with the 993, while modernities like an aluminium chassis and multilink suspension were also not left behind. A 20 mm wider wheelbase, an improved ABS system and perforated brake discs keep all those horses in line quite nicely.
However, the main attraction, of course, is the six-cylinder boxer engine. The 993 got a further development of the 3.6-litre engine from the 964 under the bonnet. This initially delivered 250 hp in the Carrera, but this is a later version from 1996.
That means the engine was fitted with VarioRam, or variable air intake system. This gives the Carrera 285 hp, the same amount as the Carrera S. This allows this Porsche to hit 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 270 km/h.
This example is equipped with Tiptronic, so you can leave the shifting to the car or shift manually using the switches on the steering wheel.
From the outside, the car is understated in Schwarz Metallic, but the interior makes this 993 one of a kind. At the time, this Porsche was sent to the Sonderwunsch department (now Porsche Exclusive) to receive an upgrade. The first owner chose a full leather interior in the exclusive Nephritegrün colour, with door panels and a gear lever finished in burr walnut.
This exceptionally equipped 993 was originally delivered in Germany and brought to the Netherlands in 2014 with around 114,000 km on the clock. The odometer now stands at 145,200 km. The car has had a major service of over €4,000 at Porsche Centrum Maastricht in the past year.
You have to be bold, but this interior is fantastic, isn’t it? We’re fans of audacious exterior colours already, but the owner who ordered this from the factory had guts.
The current owner has added a pair of tasteful Turbo 2 rims, in our opinion, making this one of the nicer 993s. And the mileage of 145k is also relatively modest for a Porsche of this model year.
Coupled with the Tiptronic, it makes this 911 a fine, perfectly usable daily modern classic. Thumbs up at every meeting guaranteed, followed by baffled looks when the door opens.

This 993 is fitted with a Techart exhaust system. The factory fitted 17-inch Cup rims have been replaced with original 18-inch Turbo 2 rims. The Cup rims are included in the sale. The original orange indicators have been replaced with white indicators (which were on the Carrera S). This 993 also has the front bumper of the Carrera S/Turbo.
There are only some small signs of use, documented on the photos:
Wear on the upholstery of the steering wheel
Cracks in the wood trim
The light of the board computer does not work. The board computer itself is fully functional otherwise and replacing the light is relatively easy (costing €180), but the owner does not want to risk damaging the leather.
