Porsche 993 Turbo WLS1 – X50 – 430 hp – Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur (1 of 183 units)
This is a genuine, factory-built example produced by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, equipped with the X50 power kit (WLS1) from new. It is not a car retrofitted after production. Only 183 units were produced worldwide.
The Porsche 911 (993) Turbo equipped with the factory X50 Powerkit – WLS1 (increasing output from 408 hp to 430 hp) represents one of the rarest and most sought-after variants among Porsche enthusiasts and collectors.
Only a very limited number of 993 Turbo models (183 units) were delivered with the factory X50 option. This package includes larger turbochargers, upgraded intercoolers, a remapped ECU, and a more efficient exhaust system.
The 993 generation is widely regarded as the most desirable of all air-cooled 911s, celebrated not only for its exceptional driving stability but also for its timeless design. Porsche itself described it as a major leap forward, both technically and aesthetically, and it is often referred to as “the Holy Grail for purists.”
The WLS (Werksleistungssteigerung – factory power enhancement) could be specified directly through Porsche Exclusive for the 993 Turbo. This configuration also served as the technical foundation for the GT2 models developed for motorsport.
Provenance & Condition
Our example – a 993 Turbo X50 (WLS1) – is presented in excellent overall condition and comes complete with duplicate keys, original radio with code, manuals, and service book.
Originally delivered new in France, the first owner – a passionate Porsche enthusiast – used the car regularly on the highway, commuting between his residence and his factories. This explains the mileage while also justifying its remarkable state of preservation.
The vehicle has been consistently and carefully maintained throughout its life.
In 2015, it was acquired by a Portuguese collector, who kept it in a private collection and maintained it to a high standard. More recently, it belonged to another Portuguese collector who also cared for it meticulously, before selling it to us as part of a collection restructuring.
Restoration & Preparation
Upon acquisition, we were immediately impressed by the car’s overall condition. Its appearance and wear were consistent with a vehicle showing approximately 80,000 km.
The interior presented extremely well, with virtually no signs of wear. The steering wheel was in very good condition, but it had two small marks from use, likely caused by a ring. For that reason, we decided to retrim it with new leather, restoring it exactly to factory condition. (We have archived photos showing the condition of the steering wheel when we purchased the car.)
Despite the car’s excellent state, we chose to carry out a full exterior reconditioning due to minor road wear and light superficial marks on a few panels.
All work was entrusted to KTX (ktx.pt), a specialist in classic Porsche restoration. The car was extensively disassembled (including trim, handles, doors, windows, lights, bumpers, sunroof, etc.) to ensure a paint finish of the highest standard, applied in the exact original factory color (We have photos of the car before painting, during the painting process, and after completion, including paint thickness measurements).
Additionally:
- All body seals and rubber components were replaced
- Window surrounds and trim were refurbished
- Front indicators and headlight lenses were replaced (due to minor stone chips) using genuine Porsche OEM parts
A comprehensive mechanical service was also carried out, including:
- Spark plugs
- Filters
- Engine and gearbox oil
- Belts
- Brake fluid
- New front brake discs and pads (genuine Porsche)
The wheels were refinished to factory specification, fully stripped and relacquered, and fitted with brand-new original Turbo center caps. The tyres are in like-new condition.
