This 996 is an “Early Build”, one of the first 5,000 units assembled in 1998, produced on the same production lines as the Porsche 993s. It was built using a semi-artisanal process, ensuring exceptional build quality and attention to detail that is typical of the previous generation.
This 996 is also an extremely rare “Factory Aerokit”, which was created at the time by the French company Turnwald. The design foreshadowed what would become the aesthetic style of the first GT3.
This particular 996 features the “1001010” Dealer code, indicating that it was a “Werkswagen” – a company car used internally by Porsche AG at the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen factory. Porsche prepared several examples of the 996 3.4-liter as Press, Marketing, and/or Show Cars for the launch of the GT3, which was later commercially available starting at the end of 1999.
And yes… this 996 is also in Pastel Yellow, a rare and highly sought-after color, with its original factory paint still in great condition.
All of the above elements – the early build, semi-artisanal production, Factory Aerokit, and the fact that this car was a Werkswagen – combine to make this 996 not only a rare unicorn, but also a true collector’s piece. It’s a unique opportunity for Porsche enthusiasts and collectors to own a piece of Porsche history
