“Collection by Vermant” is delighted to be able to present you this extremely rare Porsche 996 MK1 GT3 Clubsport. The Clubsport variant of the first generation 996 is one of the rarest versions available with an estimated production run of around 500 examples. Even the highly coveted RS-variant was produced in higher numbers then the Clubsport variant with 682 examples. This clubsport was delivered new in Januari 2000 to its first owner. He used the car most of all and drove the car for 30.000 km over a timespan of 7 years. In the subsequent years, the car was sold to its second owner. It wasn’t until 2016 that the car came into the possession of the third and final owner in Belgium. The last owner bought the car with the intent of displaying it in his collection and rarely used it. To bring the car in order from static display, it was subject to a major overhaul at Porsche Center Paal.
When looking at the exterior of this car, we find the very rare and beautiful colour of Arctic Silver. The paintwork on this car is still in excellent condition and is still original in certain area’s. Other area’s have been repainted due to stone chipping. When looking at the front of the car, we find the distinctive GT3 front bumper with spoiler below to give the car more downforce on higher speeds. When continuing on the side, we find the beautiful 18” modular wheels. These have a painted center with a polished outer ring and were standard on all 996 GT3 from the first phase. The Clubsport rides on the same lowered suspension as the standard GT3. On the rear of the car, we can find the fixed rear spoiler and a lightweight perspex rear windscreen.
When going over to the interior, we find almost every option, added by the Clubsport package. The most notable and visual option is the flame retarding upholstery for the bucket racing seats. To finish the seats off, a Porsche crest was embroidered on the headrest. looking at the doors of the car, we can find another Clubsport feature. The side airbags have been removed to reduce weight and make the car safer for use on track. To further add to the safety of the car, a roll cage was fitted. This doesn’t only add to the roll over safety of the car, but makes it a little stiffer since it prevents flexing of the chassis. The roll cage on this specific Clubsport is in complete OEM specification with a front and rear cage. The front cage however can be removed fairly easy since it is held in place with just a few bolts. In addition to the roll cage, a 6 point racing harness was also fitted from the factory on the drivers side of the car. This gives better protection and support to the driver on track and in an emergency situation. The standard red coloured 3 point safety belt is still in the car for use on public roads. In case of an emergency, a battery cut off was placed in front of the gear lever on the centre console. All the aforementioned options were only available with the Clubsport pack and could not be ordered separately. To aid in the driver comfort, this GT3 was also specified with a couple of comfort features. These do not only make the car more pleasant to drive, but also make it more useable for different occasions. This 996 was equipped with a radio player and an Airconditioning system. Both of which are still fully functional. When looking at the interior, we can see that the car saw only minimal use and a lot of care was taken by the previous owners on maintaining it.
On the options list, we can find the following options:
