A genuine UK-market car, this 911 was initially registered on 1 December 2001 and has only three keepers on the log book prior to the vendor. He has owned the car since 2014, and has both extensively restored and modified the 911 with a host of OEM and aftermarket equipment. It is estimated to have had approximately £80,000-£100,000 spent on it to date, with a comprehensive history file documenting virtually all of the upgrades.
This unique 911 Turbo utilises a Hallman Pro manual boost controller, as well as an electronic GReddy boost controller, allowing the driver to switch power outputs. The vendor states that the Porsche produces 600bhp from 0.8 bar of boost, 900bhp from 1.3 bar and a remarkable 1,200bhp from 1.5 bar.
Cosmetically, this 996 benefits from a recent bare-metal respray in the original Basalt Black metallic. The finish is near-flawless throughout, with none of the usual stonechips or surface scratches that you would expect from a car of this era. Both the front and rear lights are in good order, with the rears having been upgraded to LED aftermarket items. An OEM Porsche windscreen has also been fitted due to stone chip damage, and this Turbo has also been upgraded with a genuine 911 GT2 front bumper and rear wing.
Fitted with the original 996 Turbo ‘Twist’ alloy wheels, these are in excellent condition with no kerbing or scratch damage visible. The vendor is also including in the sale a full set of brand-new, lightweight OZ Alleggerita alloy wheels with brand new Toyo R888 tyres for race or track day use.
The interior of the 911 reflects its hardcore track aspirations, with genuine leather-clad GT2 bucket seats and Schroth Racing harnesses greeting both the driver and passenger. Both are in excellent order, with no damage or imperfections visible. GT2-acquired touches continue with the use of a roll cage – vital equipment when tackling V-max runs at private events as the vendor has.
Carbon-fibre trim accents cabin, with the lacquer retaining a clear and even shine. Contact points including the gearstick and re-trimmed steering wheel are also in good order, and performance data can be monitored via the three gauges in the custom carbon-fibre centre console below the OEM stereo and HVAC controls.
As befitting a car with such monstrous performance, this 911 has been regularly serviced and maintained to a high level. The most recent oil service was carried out by the vendor in October 2020, following a major four-year rebuild which began in 2016.
The previous owner had this 911’s engine rebuilt by marque specialist Parr Porsche. At this point, the engine capacity was enlarged from 3.6 to 3.8 litres with forged pistons, Carillo rods, upgraded bearings, head bolts, valves and more. It now runs twin GT 3076R turbochargers modified by Owen Developments, with 4.5-inch race intercoolers and Aquamist water/methanol injection. An ERP triple-plate carbon clutch and flywheel was fitted to handle the power.
The chassis was also treated to a full overhaul, with KW Variant 3 coilovers and all arms and bushes replaced with new Powerflex and Elephant Racing items. It is equipped with Surface Transforms ceramic brakes, gripped by six-piston Brembo callipers at the front and four-piston items at the rear.
The vendor adds that oil changes have been carried out every 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 5W-50. The gearbox and axle fluids have been replaced every 10-15k miles, with spark plugs replaced at 20k intervals.
The most recent MOT test was on 27 August 2015 at 64,264 miles. This was a first-time pass with no advisories. At present, the 911 is without an MOT as it has exclusively been used on track since the rebuild.
It will need a fresh MOT certificate prior to being used on the road, and this would also require swapping the exhaust from the current straight-through system. The wheels are shod in matching Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which are in excellent condition with more than 6mm of tread remaining.
This Porsche 996 Turbo is reported to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, having recently undergone a considerable restoration and upgrade process in the pursuit of jaw-dropping performance. Combining other-worldly pace with unique modifications and GT2-inspired features, this 996 would be a ruthless companion on track or a bespoke addition to any collection of the world’s fastest vehicles.
