In 2012 Porsche launched the third generation of the highly successful Boxster/Cayman models. The 981 featured many exterior and interior styling cues from the 991 generation of 911 including the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-6 engine, which, sadly due to emission laws and ever tightening regulations, has now been replaced with a 4 cylinder unit. Arguably this makes the 981 series, featuring the classic combination of a flat-6 boxer engine mated with a manual gearbox, the last, pure analogue Boxster you can buy and because of this we feel its desirability will increase in years to come.
This example is fitted with the 2.7l engine which has 265 bhp and a power delivery reminiscent of that found in early air-cooled 911’s, which we at Paul Stephens are quite fond of. To maximise the performance capabilities of the car, the driver is encouraged to drive at the upper end of the rev range, making it a real delight to the senses. This example has covered only 27,000 miles with just 3 owners from new.
