The word “Speedster” in the Porsche world come from the 1950s, when the 356 was one of the most exciting models from Zuffenhausen. In 1989, for the 25th anniversary of the 911, was introduced the Carrera Speedster. Only 2.104 examples of the new Speedster were built, 823 delivered to the US market. Still based on the K-Program chassis, basically the same since 1963, it was the last model before the introduction of the new 911 Type 964. Like the original 356 Speedster, the new model was offered with a minimal “emergency” soft top. The drivetrain was the standard Carrera, with a 3.2-liter flat six.
