Factory ordered Super-90 Karmann Coupe originally finished in Ruby Red (6202) with Grey leatherette interior. Optional equipment included chrome wheels and Continental tires. VIN 211116 is currently finished in Ruby Red with Tan upholstery. The paintwork and exterior trim are very presentable with a few cosmetic imperfections in the paintwork. The interior features headrests, VDO instrumentation, leather wrapped steering wheel, Porsche radio delete plate, and Simpson seatbelts. Not originally specified on the Certificate of Authenticity is a factory electric sunroof clip that operates without any issues. The undercarriage is solid and rust free and nicely detailed.

Mechanically powered by a replacement 1600cc push-rod engine (type 616/36) that makes excellent power paired to a 4-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drum brakes. Complete with jack, spare, owner’s manual, and Certificate of Authenticity. An excellent opportunity to acquire a well-sorted 356 driver, with a rare electric sunroof and headrests.

History
In late 1959 significant styling and technical refinements gave rise to the 356B (a T5 body type). The mid-1962 356B model was changed to the T6 body type (twin engine lid grilles, an external fuel filler in the right front wing/fender, and a larger rear window in the coupé). It is interesting to note that the Porsche factory didn’t call attention to these quite visible changes with a different model designation. However, when the T6 got disc brakes, with no other visible alterations, they called it the model C, or the SC when it had the optional extra powerful engine.
