1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A 1500 Coupé in Azurblue for sale!

The so called Porsche 356 « Continental » was one of the first limited production vehicles ever build by Porsche. With a production run of less then a year, it is also one of the most sought after 356 Porsche models for enthusiast and collectors. A court injunction from the Ford Motor Company, who had the name « Continental » name protected, endend the production of this model upruptly after just a few months.

This car is absolutly stunning! Kept in mostly original condition, the car shows today with a ton of charm, patina and originality. From the interior, only the corderoy middelpart of the seat was replaced, because it was worn. This part of the seat was replaced more then 40 years ago with original leatherette material from Porsche (matching now the side parts of the seat, which where original already in leatherette). The rest of the interior is all original. The chassis seems to be all original but may have some repaint. If any repaint was done, this was also done more then 40 years ago.

According to the Porsche factory Kardex card copy, this 356 Continental retains it’s original engine and transmission, therefor it has so called matching numbers. Delivered new by the Max Hoffman Company in New York in 1955 this car stayed in the US till somtimes in the seventies. At that time a German Porsche enthusiast saw the car in the US and bought it. He shipped the car with a so called mixed freight/passanger ship to Hamburg/Germany. The unique thing at the time was, that the new owner traveveled together with his car on the same ship. Once in Germany the car stayed with him till his passing in about 2008. At that point the car was bought from from the widow from a close personal friend of the family. This owner sold it about 6 yeas ago to it’s current owner.

The car itself is in excellent operational order. TUEV will be renewed at the time of delivery to a new owner and a major service (inluding valve adjustment) will also be done at the time of delivery.
