This particular 1955 Speedster was sold through Max Hoffmann to a Texas resident in December of the same year. The car was built White with Black leather. In 1999 The Speedster was sold to its last owner from Barrett Jackson’s Scottsdale auction where the description stated that a complete restoration was carried out in 1992/93, during which time an upgraded/rebuilt (616-12) 1600 Super motor, Weber carbs, K&N filters, and a upgraded (716) 356A Dual Mount 4-speed transmission was also installed. While under restoration the Speedster also received a complete color change to Signal Red.

Today the older restoration still shows well aside from some age related flaws and light patina to the interior. The car was just acquired by us and is on consignment by the former owner’s widow. The car had been sitting for 4 years in storage and was recently inspected at a Porsche specialist with an engine leak down test revealing a healthy motor 1/4%, 2/3%, 3/4%, 4/5%. Minor oil leaks at the tach drive, sump plate, bell housing/rear main were noticed. The heat exchangers are missing their duct tubes and cables, one horn (passenger side) is missing. Unfortunately, no spare tire, tool kit, owner’s manual, restoration receipts, or soft top tonneau boot are present with the car but the factory jack is included. The oil was just changed, new battery fitted, fuel filter replaced, and the sump plate was resealed. New Vredestein Sprint Classic tires are planned but are currently on national back order.
