’63 Porsche 356SC Cabriolet for sale!

The 356 was the model that brought the Porsche name to greatness and thus was the basis of what the Porsche brand stands for today. After 17 years of extremely successful production, the last car of the 356 type, an SC convertible, left the assembly line in April 1965. Porsche modernized its 356 one last time in 1963 in the form of the 356C. this was the first commercial Porsche ever to receive standard brake discs on all wheels, a welcome improvement over the old drum brakes. As a nec-plus-ultra of the air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engines with underlying camshaft, the famous SC version was released. In this version, the 1600CC engine produced no less than 95hp, which immediately made it the most powerful 356 next to the Carreras. A true driver’s car was born!

This 1964 Porsche 356SC Cabriolet proudly bears its name as the most sought after Porsche 356. This Cabriolet is still powered by its original (and therefore matching numbers) engine, something which is confirmed by the included certificate of origin. In addition, all plates and id-tags, including the punched-in bodynumbers, are original. This car was restored in 1992 nuts and bolts, a process that was documented in an extensive photo reportage. No expense was spared to bring this beauty back to top level, something the car still bears the fruits of. She is beautifully finished throughout and carries an absolutely stunning patina, which only enhances the character of this exceptional vehicle. The engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes do their job effortlessly and ensure that the ride is not only smooth but certainly carefree.

The original owner took as additional options a Blaupunkt Radio, an outside mirror, 2 speakers, an antenna and 2 seat belts. This Porsche is richly endowed with history, old invoices, a Belgian registration and of course the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
