The Porsche 911 has a huge number of supremely dedicated owners and admirers, and it is not a stretch to say it is an iconic car in every sense of the word. Despite undergoing a series of evolutions over several decades, it would be easy for most to recognise the current 992 series 911 as a direct descendent of the first cars produced. While the many special series cars dominate the headlines, particularly the RS and Turbo variants for rarity and values, these could not be the incredible vehicles they are without the top-quality cars upon which they are based.

Despite only being in production for two years (1976–77), and with what is thought to be fewer than 3,700 produced, the 911 Carrera 3.0 is an historically important model, combining two significant elements from the 911 timeline. It was the latest incarnation of the Carrera name, originally applied to the 911 with the legendary 2.7 RS. In addition, the Carrera 3.0’s engine was essentially the same as its sibling the 930 Turbo, but without forced induction.

This Carrera 3.0 is from the first year of production and is presented in a stunning red-over-black configuration. While little is known about the early part of its life, it has remained in Italy since the late 1990s and is offered from there today. Recently, the consignor has invested heavily in both mechanical and cosmetic work. Receipts totalling around €16,000 are on file, detailing the extensive work since 2015. As a result of the consignor’s investment, this Carrera 3.0 is ready to be immediately enjoyed by its next caretaker.
