A non sunroof coupe, which importantly retains its original factory Ducktail complete with the integral metal frame. Being an early car of the G series, the rear arches are the same as the hand formed 1973 RS rear arches. Subsequent Carreras had arches from pressed panels which carried on to the SC model with a very slightly different profile. This car also has the bright trim work and original 6 & 7 x 15 inch Fuchs with the correct N, Porsche rated Pirelli P6000 tyres that have the correct profile and Bilstein suspension. These together ensure that the handling and ride are just as it should be, light and precise. The body has been taken back to bare metal before being repainted, and being a California car (via Japan) needed very little repairs carried out, photographs available. All new window, bonnet and door rubbers were used when reassembled. The brakes have also been refurbished with rebuilt callipers, new discs, pads and brake lines, as well as a new master cylinder. The engine has been fully rebuilt with re-polished crank, RS pistons to increase the compression, E camshafts and refurbished, correctly jetted Weber carburettors, with original factory steel airbox. At the same time a new clutch was fitted, a new retrofit CDI unit, fuel pump and rebuilt distributor. The Engine has the requisite SSI heat exchangers and a new Dansk sports exhaust and now produces a stable, usable 200 bhp.The sum of this provides a usable 2.7 Carrera that is as close to an RS driving experience as you can get at a sensible price.
