Le véhicule en détail

Early 911 production saw countless detail improvements and continuously evolving specifications, though developments introduced with 1974’s G-series marked the first major visual changes in the form of new impact bumpers. Displacement, for the most part, increased from 2.4 to 2.7 liters, and Bosch K-Jetronic was now responsible for metering of air and fuel in US-specification cars. A particularly appealing combination, the semi-convertible Targa body style paired with a standard 2.7-liter engine was offered for just two model years. The example at hand wears rare and striking Salmon Metallic paint, identified as factory-correct per its accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, which also confirms optional deletion of standard “Carrera” door scripts. Acquired new by 1971 NBA Rookie of the Year and Portland Trail Blazers power forward Sidney Wicks, chassis 4410181 retains its matching-numbers engine, which benefits from a recent and extensive engine-out service.

Underscoring its rarity, provenance, and lovely, visually arresting color, this Carrera 2.7 Targa remains original inside the cabin, down to its well-preserved factory floor mats beneath period-correct sisal Coco mats. Stainless steel heat exchangers and an air box pop-off valve are discreet, worthy, and effective upgrades, and represent the full extent of mechanical modifications to this wonderfully correct and era-evocative 911. Tuned, sorted, and ready to be enjoyed, this special G-series is an unusually compelling example from an exceptional era of air-cooled 911 history.
