Le véhicule en détail

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. Initially dubbed the “901” (the designation was changed at the behest of Peugeot), the now-famous coupé entered production in 1964 and today enjoys cult status. The 911 began life with a 130-horsepower 2.0-litre flat-six engine. An enhanced variant became available in 1967: the 911 S Coupé.

Output was raised to 160 horsepower, while standard features included magnesium alloy wheels, adjustable dampers, ventilated disc brakes, a stiffer front anti-roll bar, and an additional anti-roll bar at the rear. Besides being faster, the “Super” banished the understeer of previous 911 versions, much to the delight of enthusiastic drivers. Early examples such as the one offered here are especially sought after.
The 1967 Porsche 911 S Coupé offered here was dispatched on 29 April 1968 and received at the Italian dealership Autogerma in Bologna on 21 May 1968, according to a copy of its factory Kardex sheet. It came finished in the colour of Blood Orange, as it is seen today, with a Black leatherette interior. The car is believed to have remained in Italy for most of its life, until the Switzerland-based consignor acquired it in 2014 from the previous owner in Merano, Italy.
In November 2014, the consignor commissioned Tiziano Serattini Autocarrozzeria in Bargellino to undertake a full restoration of the car. Fully restored as of 2015, the 911 S Coupé has since made for an important part of The Carrera Collection. It is accompanied by extensive documentation, including a copy of the original Kardex, Italian libretto, purchase and restoration invoices, and various customs forms.
Arguably one of the most coveted and desirable forms of the earlier 911, enthusiasts will be pleased to see this attractive ‘S’ version come to market.
