In 1986, the unmistakable silhouette of the 911 Turbo made its return to North American shores following a six-year absence, simultaneously adding Targa and Cabriolet variants to its lineup. Sales of the 930 continued for a further three years before making way for the new 964-generation 911, the famous “G-body” reaching its zenith in 1989 as the first and only model year to be equipped with the Getrag G50 five-speed manual transmission.

Offered from the final year of G-body Turbo production, this 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is one of the most visceral and coveted supercars of the 1980s, with examples as well-preserved as this harder to find by the day. Completed on 10 May 1988, the Turbo left the factory finished in Grand Prix White over Velvet Red Special Leather with a Black dashboard and was well-appointed with options including a steering wheel with raised hub, tonneau cover, heated driver’s seat, Blaupunkt Reno radio, limited slip differential, short gear shift lever, wheel centers in Grand Prix White, sport seats with electric height adjustment, amplifier system, deleted rear model designation, and a luggage compartment trimmed in Black Velour.

This highly optioned Turbo was purchased by its long-time original owner through Bo Willis Porsche in Macon, Georgia. Until 2021, the car remained on its Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO), never being titled or registered by its original private owner until it was purchased by the consignor as supported by the CARFAX Vehicle History Report. In September 2023, the Turbo received a comprehensive service courtesy of Steinel’s Autowerks in Twinsburg, Ohio to address its modest use, which included an oil and filter change, brake fluid change, conversion to R134 refrigerant, as well as mounting and balancing four new Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. Today, the car shows just 4,556 original miles and remains an exceptionally preserved time-capsule example owing to the careful stewardship of its only private owner.
