Over a decade since the introduction of the Porsche 918 Spyder, the car still remains as Porsche’s most exciting hybrid supercar built to date. Combining a 90-degree V-8 engine based on the engine from the RS Spyder LMP2 Le Mans Prototype with a pair of electric motors, its total output of 887 horsepower and 944 pound-feet of torque still make it one of the fastest cars money can buy to this day. With power managed via Porsche’s PDK seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, not only is the power tractable and easy to use on the road, but it can easily be driven in anger on a racetrack at a truly extraordinary pace.
Chassis no. 576 was delivered new to France in April of 2015 and still remains with its original owner to this day, having been driven less than 475 km from new. It is virtually as-new in all respects, having been carefully preserved and maintained since day one. Options include the cabin-mounted fire extinguisher, an electronically adjustable passenger seat, and the Burmester high end surround sound audio system. Since delivery, the car has been serviced by Porsche once in 2017, to address a warranty regarding the seat belt mounting screws.
While the original and current owner opted to have his car equipped with the desirable Weissach package, he decided to forgo the magnesium wheels that Weissach package cars were equipped with, and opt for the standard wheels instead. Hinting at the car’s electrifying performance under the bodywork, it was finished in a paint to sample colour of Light Green alongside a black leather interior. One further special request with this was to leave the acid green piping on the doors, but fit black piping on the dashboard instead, to avoid any reflections whilst on the road. Furthermore, the top of the dashboard was finished in matte carbon fibre, again to avoid reflections and to match the carbon fibre trim on the doors.
