Le véhicule en détail

Chassis No. WP0AA296XMS480630

By 1989, the “G-body” 911 Turbo—first unveiled at the 1974 Paris Motor Show—had become a performance icon, but its 15-year-old design was due for an update. That evolution came in 1991 with the launch of the new 911 Turbo, just two years after the debut of the Carrera 2 and Carrera 4. Internally designated the Type 965, this refreshed model took inspiration from the groundbreaking 959, adopting smoother, more integrated front and rear bumpers along with sleeker side sills. The changes went more than skin deep: torsion bars gave way to coil springs up front, while power steering and ABS were introduced for the first time on a production 911 Turbo. Output from the 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six rose to 320 horsepower. In effect, the 1991–1992 Turbo represented a highly refined swan song for the original Type 930, keeping true to the original Turbo concept while offering the most luxurious interior yet seen in a 911, with standard leather trim, dual airbags, air conditioning, power seats, and electric windows.

Completed on 7 June 1991, this 3.3-liter 911 Turbo was selected in the rare shade of Slate Grey Metallic, a subtle yet exciting color that enhanced the Turbo’s new curves in a mature manner. The interior, selected with optional sport seats, is trimmed in Classic Grey leather and Grey carpeting, a lighter tone to the metallic exterior shade providing an excellent contrast.

Additional factory-fitted options included driver’s-side heated sport seat and a limited-slip differential. The 3.3-liter Turbo’s original service book records that it was first sold on 20 January 1992 to Carol and David Russell through Porsche’s Charlotte, North Carolina dealership with just 52 delivery miles on the odometer. The service book records additional services in Charlotte before the car passed to an individual in Illinois with 14,657 miles. As the car changed hands over the next decade, the clean CARFAX reflects a shift—its growing status as a collectible meant it was driven less often, yet it continued to receive regular care. Invoices on file and available for review reveal multiple services throughout its history with work invoiced between 2018 and 2022 totaling approximately $20,000.

At the time of cataloging, this rare Slate Grey Metallic 911 Turbo features 34,225 miles and is offered with its original manuals and stamped service book, toolkit, and jack. Furthermore, a binder of service receipts totaling over $20,000 accompanies the car in addition to a VINAnalytics report that decodes the Turbo’s original build specification. With all air-cooled 911 Turbo variants rightfully considered collectible, Porsche enthusiasts are highly motivated to seek out the best specified and most original versions available. This particular 911 Turbo, finished in rare Slate Grey Metallic, catches the eye at first glance and continues to impress with its originality and documented care. With desirable options and provenance, it perhaps represents the ideal final 3.3-liter Turbo—offering the perfect blend of classic character and impressive performance.
