In the Porsche world, « Speedster » has always been associated with a car that is roofless, rare, beautiful, and extremely desirable. But when the first Speedster came out in the 1950 under the 356 model-line in America, the name also meant light, fast, and performance focused. However, the Speedsters that succeeded that first generation instead generally stood for relaxed, open-top cruising rather than outright performance. Now, though, with the 991 generation Speedster, the name finally lives in line with the values of that original 356 Speedster once again.

The 991 Speedster is effectively a manual GT3 with the roof chopped off, retaining the same approachable and yet laser-focused driving characteristics that have become synonymous with Porsche’s GT3 line, while adding the drama and theatre of the convertible experience. And, of course, with the roof off, the driver can enjoy the gorgeous notes coming from the 4.0 N/A flat six singing away behind them that much clearer.

This particular example was optioned new with the very desirable Heritage pack, harking back to the racing Porsches of old that this car owes its heritage to, and is a C16 example sold new in the UK. It was first serviced by Porsche Centre Hatfield in August 2021 at 1,758 miles and has just had major service at Porsche Service Centre Brooklands. It’s an exquisite example of one of the most sought after Porsches to come out of Stuttgart in the last ten years, and offers many miles of enjoyment for the next owner in what is already considered to be a bona-fide classic in all but age.
