Porsche 991 Turbo S

You know, we are not big on the newer cars, but this is really a party! The Porsche 991 is the seventh generation Porsche 911. 991 is the internal production number used by Porsche for the car that was unveiled on September 15, 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a replacement for the Porsche 997. The design was radically changed, but there is still a clear design link with the previous 911 generations. The first photos of the 991 were made public by Porsche on August 23, 2011. This seventh generation of the 911 was delivered to customers from 2012 to 2019.

The first generation of the 991 also referred to as 991.1. The design update (from model year 2016) is referred to as generation 991.2.

The direct injection 3.8 liter Boxer engine of the previous model – the 997 S – was retained in the 991 S, with an increase in power to 400 hp. A new engine was developed for the « ordinary » Carrera: a 3.4 liter that delivers 350 hp. The car has a start/stop system and electromechanical power steering. Compared to the old 997, the wheelbase was extended by 100 mm; the overall length of the car increased by 70 mm. Due to the use of high-strength steel, aluminum and composite material, the total weight has been reduced by 45 kg.

As usual, Porsche first launched the Carrera and Carrera « S » (and in 2014 the Carrera GTS), and later the convertible version of both cars. This was followed by the four-wheel drive « 4S ». The « turbo » and the « turbo S »
