The Porsche 911 (993) is the fourth generation of the Porsche 911, a prestige sports car developed by the German car manufacturer Porsche. Last version of the 911 series to have the boxer engine in its original configuration, that is to say with air cooling, the six-cylinder flat has undergone many evolutions since its first version in 1965. 3.6 L displacement remains identical to the previous version fitted to the 964 series while gaining 23 hp and it is now associated with a six-speed gearbox. Many electronic improvements also appear in engine management and active safety aids (anti-skid).

For many Porschists, the 993 remains the last “real” 911, combining the inimitable design of the 911 with its famous air-cooled flat-six engine.

Its production lasted five years, from 1993 to 1998. The next generation, codenamed 996, began its career in 1997.
