The Porsche 911 is undoubtedly the greatest sports car of all time. History, heritage and of course the same recognizable silhouette since its launch in the 1960s have combined to make the Porsche 911 one of the most recognizable and sought after cars ever. It goes without saying that it’s a blast to drive, and each new generation pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with a sports car. In 1975, Porsche decided to release a top model of the 911. This model was equipped with a turbo to increase power and performance. The Porsche 911 Turbo was born. Every 911 Turbo since then shows just how devastatingly fast this legendary sports car can be. One of our favorite Turbo generations was the 993 generation, which we take a closer look at below. Porsche unveiled the 993 generation of the 911 in 1993, before introducing the Turbo version in 1995. For many enthusiasts and purists, the 993 era is highly regarded, as it happened to be the last air-cooled 911 in history, before the 996 generation switched to water cooling in 1998 when the 993 replaced it. A 3.6-litre biturbo engine was the heart of choice for the 993 Turbo, producing a seriously powerful 408 bhp. The 993-generation 911 Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds, depending on the version. Before the 1990s, this was seriously fast, and a trend that set the tone, as every subsequent 911 Turbo was even faster.
