Immediately after production ended on the legendary 1973 911 Carrera 2.7 RS , a series of Carreras equivalent to the 1973 911 Carrera RS Touring (M472) models were built for Europe. This rare and desirable Porsche was the 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI. This was equipped with engine type 911/83 RS-spec mechanical fuel injection (MFI) engine that produced 210 hp.

Our 911 Carrera 2.7 (MFI) was produced in November 1973 to be registered by its first owner in Verona, Italy on Oct. 5, 1974. It has had to date 5 documented owners.

The car is original and matching. The original front seats come with the car and the rollbar easily can be removed.

Het voertuig in detail

The major difference between these Carrera’s and the Carrera RS Touring was that the MFI variant was built with the bodywork and interior of the impact bumper bodywork of the “G-Series” instead of long hood bodywork. The weight of the Carrera 2.7 MFI was also 1075 kg, identical to that of the previous Carrera RS Touring. What makes the 1973 Carrera RS and the 2.7-liter “euro” Carrera so interesting and exciting to drive is the Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI) setup. The glorious sound and instant throttle response feel remarkable compared to the computer-controlled injection systems of the ’70s and ’80s. The December 1974 issue of Motor Magazine tested the Carrera 2.7 MFI extensively and they measured a 0-100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds!Porsche built a similar number of coupes to the 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS.

These cars were never imported into North America by Porsche. Stringent U.S. emissions laws required smog devices that drastically affected the performance of the 2.7-liter engine. The 1974-1975 American version of the Carrera used the considerably less powerful CIS (K-Jetronic) based injection engines to meet California and American emissions standards.

Our 911 Carrera 2.7 (MFI) was produced in November 1973 to be registered by its first owner in Verona, Italy on Oct. 5, 1974. in 1994, this first owner sold the car in Rome to its second Italian owner, who in turn sold the car in 2008 to Belgium. This first Belgian owner fully restored the car to resell it in 2012 to its second Belgian owner who kept it until 2016 to sell it to its third Belgian owner, a collector. This collector had the engine and transmission completely overhauled. Invoices of this are available.

The certificate of authenticity indicates that the engine and transmission are matching. The car wears its original color, grandprix white (R4). The car came originally from the factory with the black ‘Carrera’ opscript on the flanks of the car and the car came originally with the optional light metal rims with size 6×15 in the front and 7×15 in the rear.

The roll cage currently mounted can be easily removed and the original front seats come with the car.

In short, this car represents an important piece of Porsche history and is ready to be enjoyed!
