Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0

We are pleased to offer for sale this UK supplied 911 Carrera 3.0 Coupe.

Known as the Carrera 3.0, this model was only actually produced for 2 years from late 1975 to 1977, before being superseded by the more familiar 911SC. This makes the Carrera 3.0 one of the rarer 911’s available today. It could be specified as a sport model with front and rear spoilers, 16” fuchs wheels and dechromed brightwork which was fashionable at the time, however it could also be specified without these options for a more delicate appearance and it is this variant that has more appeal today. This Carrera 3.0 was specified without the sport pack so features period brightwork around the windows and headlights as well as the original 15” cookie cutter wheels. Scarcity is, of course, the key to future residual strength and a good Carrera 3.0 could well represent a sensible investment as well as being an enjoyable car to own and drive.

It was supplied new on the 23rd of February 1977 to AFN Ltd Middlesex and finished in Sienna metallic with a tan leatherette interior, the colour combination it still wears today. When new, it was originally supplied with Porsches three-speed sportomatic gearbox, however like most, this was later swapped for a traditional manual gearbox. It has now covered a total of 113,000 miles which are documented in the extensive history file, including a Porsche certificate of Authenticity. Recent work has included a full bare metal respray, kidney bowl and sill repairs, new clutch, new shock absorbers, new exhaust system, engine out with many seals replaced, fuel injection system overhaul, gearbox overhaul, new fuel tank, complete electrical system overhaul with many new components.

The Carrera name was reintroduced for the performance derivatives of the 911 in 1973, initially with a 2.7 litre engine, this was replaced by a 200BHP 3.0 unit in October 75 for the 76 model year.
