Porsche 911 2.4T

At the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche unveiled its No. 5 prototype baptised “901”. But at the official launch of its new GT, Porsche must rename them 911 because Peugeot had already registered all the three-digit names with a 0 in the middle. Until 1967, Porsche will sell more than 10,000 copies of its GT, which will become a reference in the world of sports cars.

It is this year that a range is declined around the same bodies (coupe and targa) with the same Flat 6 of two litres of displacement but with different powers. Thus, the 2.0S will develop 160 hp, the 2.0 T, 110 hp to position itself as an entry level and the 2.0 L will develop 130 hp.

Het voertuig in detail

In August 1968, Porsche tried to provide a solution to the very characteristic handling of the Porsche 911. The factory technicians modify their flagship model and increase the 911’s tread by 5.8 cm from 2.210 m to 2.268 m. If 5.8 cm appear little on paper, they are enough to significantly improve the handling of the Porsche 911, without distorting its character that makes all its charm… That same year, Porsche replaced the 911 2.0 “L” with the “E”. Its name comes from its engine feeding system that goes to injection (“E” for Einspritz, or “injection” in German).

In August 1969, 2.0 will be replaced by 2.21 still under the three declinations T, E and S. Finally, for the 1972 vintage, Porsche will once again increase the displacement to 2.4 litres (also closer to 2.3L since 2341 cm3) with especially the adoption of a new gearbox, the 915 replacing the 901 dogleg gearbox. The 911 2.4T will keep Zenith carburetters, developing 130 hp, the other two models in the range being in mechanical injection.

The first year of production of the 2.4 is characterised by the famous “oil trap”, placed on the ARD wing, an idea abandoned on vintage 73 given the few full of gasoline made by the oil trap…

The car presented is a 911 2.4 T model year 1973. Delivered new in Germany in December 1972, the car was initially yellow signal, it was passed in the 80s in white grand prix.

The car has a history traced since 1981 with 3 owners. It has its original engine and gearbox. It is equipped with deep fuchs rims, stainless steel exhaust and exchanger, perforated discs. Inside the Recaro style seats with leather/fabrics are installed. The car has been regularly monitored, among the recent interventions we will note the repair of carbuses, new Bilstein shock absorbers, stainless steel exhaust and exchanger,…

The car presents very well and works perfectly. The engine is full, and the sound is captivating. The original steering wheel will be reassembled in the car.

The car is visible by appointment at our premises.
