There’s something undeniably special about a 1972 Porsche 911T Targa—especially one like this. Finished in its factory-correct Aubergine over Black Leather, this example captures everything that makes early 911s so compelling: character, usability, and that unmistakable air-cooled charm. But what makes the 1972 model particularly unique is its one-year-only external oil filler flap—a detail that Porsche would abandon after just a single production run, making it a coveted feature among enthusiasts today.

This particular car tells an honest story. Delivered new to its original owner in Missouri, it remained in the same hands for decades, accumulating just about 83k miles along the way. About twenty years ago, it received a high-quality repaint in its original shade of Aubergine. And, unlike most modern paint jobs, this one retains a single-stage finish, further preserving the car’s vintage feel.

Mechanically, things get even more interesting. While it remains a matching-numbers example, the engine was rebuilt and reportedly enlarged from its original 2.4L displacement to a more potent 2.7L. Additionally, its factory air-conditioning remains in place and in fine working order.

The car is offered with its original space saver spare, factory tool kit, and service documentation. Upon delivery, the exhaust will be refinished, and the rear passenger-side taillight will be replaced to ensure everything is as it should be.
