A very dry and rust-free 912 with good gaps and panel fit. Finished in Canary Yellow with a Black interior. The paintwork is in good condition and very presentable with a few blemishes. The 1968-year model 912 is a one-year-only with side reflectors and small door pockets. The interior is in great condition with a brushed aluminum dash, VDO instrumentation, and an AM/FM Blue-Dot Blaupunkt Radio. A period-correct 1.6-liter flat-four engine (producing 102 SAE hp at 5800 rpm) with a five-speed manual 901 transmission and four-wheel disc brakes. Complete with a partial toolkit, spare tire, owner’s manual, Porsche Targa operational manual, and 38 years of registration cards documenting ownership history. It has become increasingly difficult to find a good daily driver at a great price point!

History

As production of the 356-model concluded in late 1965, Porsche officially began production of the 912. Styling, performance, quality of construction, reliability, and price point made the 912 a very attractive buy to both new and old customers, and it substantially outsold the 911 during the first few years of production. Porsche produced nearly 30,000 912 units over 5 years of production from 1965 to 1969.

1968 Porsche updated the 912 with a unique interior featuring black and white gauges, a padded dash, and integrated door pockets and armrests. This gave the 912 the same interior as the 911. The 1968-year model featured side reflectors for the first time, an exhaust emissions system that required an external belt-driven pump to pass the new smog requirem
