First sold through Porsche Center Verona, this 2019 Porsche Speedster is optioned with the desirable Heritage Design Package, giving it a unique livery and special interior appointments. Showing 2,300 km from new, this car has been under the care of two significant Porsche collectors and was kept to a very high standard. The Heritage Design Package was exclusively available in GT Silver Metallic, paired with white “Porsche” lettering down the lower sill and a large white “Gumball” on the doors and luggage compartment lid. These were intended to harken back to 356 race cars of old, where this Speedster derives its name from.

Another item only given to the Heritage Design Package cars was unique Gold badging on the rear, which would have been found on numerous 356s and early 911s from the early days of Porsche’s car building.

On the interior, the Heritage Design Package can be identified by the rich Cognac brown leather that covers the seats, center armrest, and some of the door cards. Finding any Porsche GT car with leather that isn’t black is exceptionally rare, and when paired with the exclusive colorway found on this Speedster, it looks spectacular. Although GT3 mechanicals may underpin the Speedster, it is designed to be an outstanding road trip car. In light of this, the original owner specified this Speedster with desirable options such as Cruise Control, Front Axle Lift, Automatic Climate Control, Bose Surround Sound, and LED headlights.

Powering the Speedster is a 4.0-liter Flat-6 from the 991.2 GT3 that has been enhanced with subtle factory performance upgrades, resulting in 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. The only gearbox available for the Speedster is a 6-speed manual from the 991.2 GT3 that has a bit of extra effort to make the experience behind the wheel even more fun. Although there isn’t much in the way of official statements from Porsche to corroborate, people who have driven a Speedster and GT3 back to back say that the suspension in the Speedster is more compliant and road-focused, rather than the uncompromising track setup found in the GT3. Out of the 1,948 Speedsters Porsche produced in 2018 and 2019, this is car number 215. Although rumors have been floating around that a 992 Speedster may be in the works, nothing has become official yet. Even if a new Speedster goes on sale, it is hard to imagine that it will strike the perfect balance between performance, comfort, and style that this car does, and there is no disputing that this car is a true modern classic.
