In 2020, Porsche unveiled an extraordinary addition to its Heritage collection—the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition—joining the 2019 Heritage Design Speedster. This limited production model, restricted to just 992 examples to mirror its internal designation, masterfully blended classic colors and materials from the 1950s and early 1960s with the superb 992 911 platform.
The exterior showcased exceptional attention to detail, with the car being offered in Cherry Red Metallic paintwork among three other carefully selected historic Porsche colors. The design incorporated a distinctive white livery that paid homage to early Porsche motorsport history, featuring spear-shaped graphics front wings, PORSCHE lettering on the doors, and roundels with the buyer’s chosen start number. Another nod to the marque’s history was found in the Porsche Heritage badge adorning the rear engine lid grille, which drew inspiration from the badge historically awarded to Porsche 356 owners upon reaching 100,000 kilometers. Further details of the Heritage Design Edition included the incorporation of the 1963 Porsche Crest, which appeared on the bonnet, steering wheel, wheel centers, and vehicle key, as well as 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels influenced by the classic Fuchs design.
The interior appointments demonstrated unparalleled commitment to heritage-inspired luxury, trimmed in an exclusive two-tone leather treatment, combining Bordeaux Red or Black leather with OLEA club leather in Atacama Beige. In a particularly thoughtful nod to the past, Porsche reintroduced corduroy for the seats and door trims, a material that had not been seen since the days of the 356. The dashboard housed a 356-inspided green-illuminated rev counter and Sport Chrono dial, while a metal badge displaying the individual limitation number adorned the trim panel.
Mechanically, the Heritage Design Edition maintained the latest in Porsche performance seen in the 992 911 platform. Power came from 443-horsepower biturbo boxer engine, which, when paired with the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabled the car to achieve 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 188 mph.
This particular 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition is identified by its limitation dashboard plaque as number 240 of just 922 examples produced. It is finished in the striking launch livery of Cherry Red Metallic with a Black targa roof panel and roundels with start number 1. Other exterior appointments include power-folding exterior mirrors with mirror area illumination and the Sports Exhaust System with black tailpipes. The cabin, featuring duotone leather in Bordeaux Red and Atacama Beige, is lavishly appointed with 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats Plus with Memory Package, a heated Sport Steering Wheel, and air vent slats trimmed in matching leather, while the Burmester High-End Surround Sound System provides an exceptional acoustic experience.
