Porsche 996.2 Carrera “40 Jahre 911”

As the name and limited run of 1,963 cars alluded to, Porsche created the ‘40 Jahre’ special-edition 996-type 911 in 2003 to celebrate 40 years of its rear-engined legend. Based on the Carrera S model, a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six sent 345 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the most notable feature was surely the GT Silver Metallic paintwork. Only the halo Carrera GT supercar could be specified in the same shade. This finish was complemented by the polished 18-inch wheels and Natural Grey leather trim.
The example offered here is numbered 0183. It was delivered in December 2003 via Porsche Palumbo of Napoli and remained in the Italian city through to 2013. Come 2015, the car had joined the Curated Collection in Belgium, where it was tended to by Kronos of Mont-Saint-Guibert. The official Porsche Centre serviced the ‘40 Jahre’ most recently in July 2022 (invoice on file) at a cost of €1,845.
Accompanied by its owner’s guides, spare wheel, and in-built phone, this collectible 911 anniversary special displays 31,071 kilometres from new at the time of cataloguing. One of the rarest 996s produced, this example still represents excellent value to any marque enthusiast.
