An elegant, exclusive and radical model from Stuttgart … In the GT3 RS version, the German brand intends to demonstrate all the technology and expertise of the competition department with Roadworthiness according to the FIA regulations for the FIA RSR category. As if the 911 GT3 of the 996 generation wasn’t fast enough, Porsche decided to give the model a final farewell before the introduction of the 997 and decided that the GT3 would receive the RS treatment, i.e. Lightweight and Pure Power. Weighing 50 kg less than the regular GT3, the GT3 RS uses carbon fibre body parts among other lighter components to help reduce unnecessary weight. The RS version has a reinforced body with an improved aerodynamic coefficient and a rear aileron designed for the toughest corners on the Laguna Seca track. In mechanical terms, the famous 3.6-litre six-cylinder Mezger engine is a variant of the incredible 911 GT1 from Le Mans.It delivers 382 bhp at 7400 rpm and 385 nm of torque at 5000 rpm, thanks to a crankshaft hardened with nitride, titanium connecting rods and lighter forged pistons. It was mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, transferred from the competition department and not from the normal 996 range. It also has a self-locking differential, which is useful given that the gearbox includes shorter ratios. This increase in power, decrease in weight and special attention paid to aerodynamics (highlighted by the imposing carbon rear spoiler) allowed for drastic increases in performance. According to Porsche itself, it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, but many automotive analysts believe this to be a very conservative estimate. If anyone is brave enough to keep accelerating, the GT3 rs will reach a top speed of 306 km/h.
